Luray Caverns – Distance from Camp-Resort: 5.3 miles

The largest cavern system in the eastern United States, Luray Caverns is a great stop for a geology lesson! Visitors can enjoy guided tours through cathedral-sized rooms with ceilings 10-stories high! There’s also an online quiz to test your cavern knowledge and other educational activities that can be downloaded and done in the comfort of your cabin or RV!

History

The New Market Battlefield – Distance from Camp-Resort: 19.3 miles

In 1864, thousands of Federals and Confederates clashed at this 280-acre battlefield park. Today, visitors can tour battlegrounds and enjoy beautiful views of the Shenandoah Valley, visit the Virginia Museum of the Civil War, and explore the Jacob Bushong Farm on site.

Biology

Luray Zoo – Distance from Camp-Resort: 6.2 miles

Discover the animal kingdom with a trip to the Luray Zoo! Located just down the road from the Camp-Resort, visitors can enjoy 80 exhibits of reptiles and 20 exhibits of animals including: primates, feline, birds, and mammals! The zoo also has a petting zoo area where you can pet and feed the animals!
